Scientific Background
From Incoherent to Coherent Radiation
As beam coherence builds in periodic structures, the radiation spectrum evolves from a broad incoherent continuum to a sharp monochromatic peak — the fundamental physics behind channeling radiation, PXR, and laser-like sources presented at Channeling 2026.
Fig. 1 — Radiation spectrum F(ħω) evolution: from incoherent (∝ Nₑ) to fully coherent (∝ Nₑ² × Nₚ²) emission in periodic structures.
Fig. 2 — Crystal-based radiators for light particles: Bremsstrahlung (∝ NZ²) → Coherent Bremsstrahlung (∝ (NZ)²) → Channeling Radiation (∝ (N_eff·Z)²). At defined conditions CR/B ∝ γ^(1/2) Z^(−2/3).
