SCIENTIFIC, TECHNICAL AND LOGISTIC SUPPORT TO USERS      

The LNF laboratory covers an area of 140.000m² and is located about 20km from the centre of Rome. It can be easily reached by car; by plane (two international airports); by bus and by train.
In addition, the laboratory provides, Monday to Friday, a bus service from/to Frascati and Rome. LNF laboratory area hosts a travel office, a restaurant, two cafeterias and a bank. Users associations, visitor information services, free Italian language classes; video and photo laboratory, video and CD production are also available.

The users office and the recruitment office provide support to fellows, students and foreign guests.
Two guest houses (up to 30 guests) are also available on site.
External users have access to all the services and structures of the lab. These include:
 

Computing Service, which makes available to all users the access to several computing clusters and servers, a high b.w. LAN (wired 100/1000 Mb/s, wireless 54 Mb/s) and a high performance WAN (GARR). Highly skilled personnel is available for consulting in all the relevant aspect of computing, data handling and networking across several hardware and software platforms.
 

Library It contains about 20,000 books and 16,000 magazines, about 150 journals and preprints, with easy online access to the catalogue and to several journals, with full text capabilities.
 

Mechanical engineering support service, equipped with modern CAD for the design of large and complex structures as well as for the development of new detectors.
 

Fully equipped mechanical workshops, with highly skilled operators.

Cryogenics and high vacuum laboratories and facilities.
 
Large assembly areas, including a large A1000 class clean room.
 
Electronics services to design, assembly and support research equipment.
 
Stockrooms, with a wide variety of commonly needed items. They also deal with shipping and receiving.


Scientific Information Services
, to support document editing, organisation of international conferences, workshops and schools (about 20/year), educational and cultural events.
