I have now a first demo version of an event display for the KLOE detector ready. It is, as already announced in the previous display meetings (28/9 and 17/10), based on the "o" packages developed at LAL/Orsay by G.Barrand and his team. The "o" packages are the successor of the OnX program successfully used for the event displays of H1, Delphi, NA48, Nomad and more.
What are the "o" packages? To get a first impression please read carefully the introduction or, if you have no time, just the conclusion. There are also good demos describing and showing you how to use the packages. Just follow the instructions. The path under which the LAL software is installed here on the LNF UNIX cluster is /kloe/soft/lal.
The "o" packages intend to serve as a generic HEP graphic environment for
developing high quality event displays in a cost and man-power
efficient way. I think these packages already come very close
to that goal. The only thing really missing is a good and complete
documentation.
Anyhow, with the help of good examples available, looking into the
source code and some direct help from G.Barrand we should be able
to discover and use all the nice features of these powerful packages.
But judge yourself! I have prepared a demo allowing you to visualize events from the so-called 10**6 event production. This demo displays mainly the data described in the YBOS banks DHIT and CHIT (see KLOE Note #137 page 16) including a first small geometry interface for the barrel. You want to try? Have a look to the source files implementing this demo display (Vis.c, Rep.c, events.kloe, geoemc.kloe and Vis.odb, user.odb).

This is just the start and a lot more work have to be organized
and done to implement a really powerful event display for KLOE.
For this reason I propose another display meeting
where I want to present a technical introduction of
how to use the "o" packages for KLOE. Furthermore we should discuss
about who could or should learn, implement and maintain the display
for KLOE. I'm only available in a first phase for getting this
project running!
