Configuring Macintosh WWW browsers for caching

From the Preferences menu item, select Gates, and tick the Use CERN Proxy Service radio box

Fill in the details of your cache server as shown below

At present there is no GUI available for configuring proxies, and ResEdit or similar must be used

Edit STR# resource number 803

Strings are of the form: protocol;http_proxy_url, e.g.

  http;http://wwwcache.lnf.infn.it:8080/
  gopher;http://wwwcache.lnf.infn.it:8080/
  ftp;http://wwwcache.lnf.infn.it:8080/
  wais;

No proxy is also supported - edit STR# resource 804, e.g.

  *.lnf.infn.it

All incarnations of Netscape are configured for caching in the same way
