The launch of the ENEIDE Space Mission from the Baikonur Cosmodrome to the International Space Station

Abstract

On April 15th, 2005, the Italian Souyz Mission 2 ("ENEIDE") was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, the largest space flight center in the world. The event and the Cosmodrome will be described, also with the aid of photos.

The Mission has been sponsored by Italian Mnistry of Defence and the Lazio Region, with the support of Finmeccanica, FILAS and the Rome Chamber of Commerce (CCIAA).

Many of the ENEIDE experiments have been developed by Italian researchers and built by Italian industry and research insitutions, including INFN. We will briefly describe some of these experiments, among which is LAZIO-SiRad, which monitors the space radiation environment inside the ISS.
