Subject: 1.9 GeV

Dear Dr. Bianco: I have just seen your ICHEP02 paper:
arXiv:hep-ex/0212028 showing a narrow resonance at 1.911+_.004 GeV.
I would like to suggest to you that this may be related to the narrow
resonance observed some time ago by a number of groups.
These experiments are listed on p. 436 of the 1988 PDG Review.
A large number of experiments observed this resonance, but because several
less sensitive ones did not, it has been generally discounted.
I analyzed the most sensitive of these experiments in
PLB (1987) 81, and found good evidence for the resonance at
1937+- 1 MeV with a width less than 3 MeV. You may want to consider the
possibility that this is related to your narrow structure.
Incidentally, I don't think the spin could be as low as 1--, because I don't
see what would prevent a 1-- resonance from having a broad width to
two pion decay. My educated guess is that a narrow resonance where you
observe it (whether on not it is related to the earlier observations)
would have a relatively high spin.
Please feel free to share this email with other members of E687 who
you think might find it of interest. Best regards, Jerry Franklin
