10 FEB 1998 : FIRST COSMIC RAY ON A CALORIMETER ENDCAP

After the mechanical installation has been concluded, the installation of electronics and cabling for the Electromagnetic calorimeter is proceeding steadily. All four EndCaps have been installed, cabled and tested. In parallel the Data Acquisition system have been instrumented in order to be able to acquire an half of the calorimeter channels (2440*2).
Work is in progress to complete the whole DAQ system.

On February 9th the final HV setting have been downloaded on the South West EndCap and a selective cosmic trigger (requiring a coincidence between top and bottom side of the detector) has been setup. A good integration of Online and Offline software have been achieved.

Front View of the KLOE detector as seen by KLOE event display (DIDONE). This is an example of a Cosmic Ray reconstructed Online in the South West EndCap. The vertical coordinate is reconstructed by means of time differences from the photomultipliers readout at both ends. Timing calibration is performed online. Side View of the same Cosmic Ray event.
