The quality of the field in the central region is good and an alignement problem has been removed. One missing measurement, the field along the axis inside the endcaps, will be performed at ANSALDO in December or January. The Committee recommends that as soon as the acceptance criteria are met, all the necessary steps are taken to ensure the delivery of the magnet to Frascati in time for the scheduled installation in the pit. The construction of the detector's components has proceeded further. The straw tube assembly is completed. A minor delay has occurred in the area of the silicon detectors but is considered as uncritical. The Committee, after evaluation of the global schedule of DAFNE and the experiments, recommends that the FINUDA magnet be installed in the pit starting beginning of June 1998, to be followed by the installation of the detector elements. To better understand the time needed for this, the committee requests for the next meeting an updated FINUDA installation schedule. To help with the start-up of the experiment in the pit, the Committee suggests that a few access day are foreseen in the machine schedule during the months in which FINUDA is not yet in beam position. The Committee asks the FINUDA Collaboration to provide for the next meeting a running strategy for the first year of operations. SCHEDULE After having examined the status of the Machine and of the Experiments the Committee proposes the following installation schedule, which in its opinion best fits the overall requirements of the parties. Jan. 1st- May 31st: DAFNE Commissioning and first period of DEAR data taking in the FINUDA i.r. June 1st-Aug 31st: Machine shut-down. KLOE roll-in and FINUDA installation. Sept. 1st-Oct. 31st: DAFNE Commissioning with KLOE magnet on. DEAR and KLOE data taking. Nov. 1st-Nov. 30th : FINUDA roll-in. Dec 1st ....: DAFNE operations with KLOE and FINUDA magnets on. FINUDA and KLOE data taking. The present schedule will be checked at the next meeting of the Committee in the light of the status of the Machine and of the experiments. ------------- End Forwarded Message -------------
