DAFNE news

DEAR Colleagues,

DAFNE is approaching the time for collisions. Now they steadly circulate
up to almost 600 mA of currents for both electron and positrons.
The vacuum conditions are also steadly nearing the December 2003 ones,
the last period of running machine.

There are still some shortcomings due to the not yet fully solved
problem of water supply, but apparently they can cope with them.

Now the last point they have to solve to collide is the problem of the
beams rotations. They are checking the quadrupoles magnetic fields, and
also our magnetic field was tested (resulting as should be).
They estimate a couple of days for that, which means that, from October 8
or 9 they could produce first collisions.

It is hence necessary that all groups organize their presences to ensure
the manpower for the nearing shifts, taking into account that at beginning
such shifts will not be rouitine ones, requiring instead a lot of
expertise.

In short follow, a schedule will be arranged.
