Dear Colleagues
Dafne has finished a first optimization of the positron ring, reaching up
to 50 mA of circulating positron currents and multibunch, up to 120,
operation. As it is, with positrons the detectors (i.e. microstrips) are
not subjected to radiation stress.
>From yesterday afternoon, DAFNE team switched to electrons, with which we
had already experienced radiation stress on some microstrip modules.
They restared from scratch, in order to find a different, smooth optics
also with electrons, in order to avoid, as for positrons, radiation
damages on nearest surrounding detectors.
This process is going on.
As soon as the situation will be stabilized in a satisfactory way, I will
inform you in order to organize our subsequent activities.
