For the FINUDA Collaboration
Dear Colleagues,
the water shortage (both in flux and pressure) continues plague the LNF.
In this condition it is impossible and even dangerous, as in the previous
days, to operate DAFNE.
Since there are in view no excape routes from this situation, and the
tempted ones proved unfruitfull, the decision of the A.D. has been to
switch off all DAFNE plants within today (July, 28), expecially in order
not to waste human resources (around the clock operator's shifts).
The decision has also be taken that DAFNE will be re-swithed ON
on August 18, in order that can start to operate, for machine tuning, from
August 24, and, hopefully, by the end of August-beginning of September,
produce the first usefull collisions.
This, of course, if for that date the water supply will return normal.
Before August 18, the DAFNE hall will be open and accessible, but take in
mind that LNF bar will remain closed August 11-24 (inclusive), it will work
the ENEA bar.
Any team can hence take advantage, if needed, of this extra time to
"refine" his job.
Taking into account that from August 18 beams could cirlulate in
conditions of bad vacuum and optics, it is wise to have for that date, or
previously, all detectors switched in safe mode (or OFF), and to
anticipate a possible call on activity of the members of the Collaboration
starting from August 25.
Any news or modification of what above written will be given in due time.
